Retired Clarkstown Educator Allison Meyerson Joins Right to Read Advocacy to Empower Dyslexic Learners and Their Families

Monroe, N.Y. (September 7th, 2023) – Allison Meyerson, a retired Clarteacher who resides in Monroe, New York, has joined Right to Read Advocacy, LLC, which offers a specialized service that supports families and children through the journey of dyslexia diagnosis. The advocacy organization also offers a membership service to special education advocates and related professionals. As an advocate member, Meyerson will be supporting families in Orange, Rockland, and surrounding Counties.

“I’m acutely aware that parents need professional support when navigating the inner workings of school districts, which inspired me to become an educational advocate,” Meyerson said. “As a long-time educator and advocate for learners, I’m happy to have found a group of peers as passionate about children’s education as I am. I look forward to working with Right to Read Advocacy and supporting as many students as possible.”

Meyerson, a retired teacher with over thirty years of experience with Clarkstown Central School District in Rockland County, New York, was a Literacy Specialist providing intensive interventions to students with reading difficulties, primarily those diagnosed with dyslexia. She has completed the esteemed Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates Special Education and Advocacy Training.

“Allison’s wealth of experience as both a former teacher and literacy specialist will be of tremendous benefit to her advocacy clients,” Jennifer Bernheim, Founder of Right to Read Advocacy, said. “She is well versed in delivering research-based reading intervention that produces positive outcomes for students with dyslexia. Allison’s knowledge will also help foster productive discussions for dyslexic students who are receiving services through an Individualized Education Plan.”

Additionally, Meyerson is Level IV Orton-Gillingham certified through Fairleigh Dickinson University, a program accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC). The IMSLEC provides national accreditation to programs that prepare specialists in multisensory structured language education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from SUNY New Paltz and a Master’s degree in Literacy from Fordham University.

To keep current on educational laws and regulations, Meyerson belongs to several professional educational advocacy organizations including the International Dyslexia Association, Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, and the International Literacy Association. She is an avid consumer of the latest information pertaining to special education, educational laws and regulations, advocacy, and literacy issues.
